Shreyas Iyer has been a consistent performer in the IPL over the last few years. The 27-year, who was picked up by the KKR at the auction this year, showcased his terrific consistency with the bat as he surpassed 400 runs in this edition of the IPL. This is the fifth time, the 27-year old has gone past the mark in the league.
In a do-or-die contest for his team, after being asked to bowl, KKR allowed their opposition Lucknow Super Giants to score 210 in the first innings. Chasing the big total, KKR got off to a poor start, losing two wickets in quick succession that made Shreyas Iyer to enter the crease by the third over.
He got off the mark straightaway with a boundary over covers in the third ball he faced in the innings. He then hit a six and a four in the next two balls to start the onslaught against the LSG bowlers. He kept the scoreboard ticking and played a responsible and a quick innings to keep the required run rate under check.
He got to his fifty off just 28 deliveries in the 14th over of the innings and looked set for a big score. He however got out in the very next ball as he looked to go big but hit straight into the hands of Deepak Hooda at deep-midwicket to lose his wicket.
In the end, KKR lost the match by just two runs and were knocked out of the tournament. Shreyas Iyer finished the season, scoring 401 runs in 14 matches that includes three half-centuries at an average of 30.84.

This is the fifth season in which he has scored more than 400 runs. After scoring 400+ runs for three consecutive seasons from 2018 to 2020, he missed it last year as he didn’t participate in the first-half of the IPL due to a shoulder injury.
