  • Shane Warne Lifts First IPL Trophy – It was the legendary Australian spin maestro who lifted the first-ever trophy of the Indian Premier League. The then skipper of the Rajasthan Royals, Shane Warne guided his team to a well-deserved victory.
    Rajasthan Royals opened their IPL campaign with a disastrous 9 wicket loss, but they came back strongly under the tutelage of Shane Warne from the next game to clinch the title.
  • Shane Watson Wins The Man of the Series – One of the star performers of Internation cricket in 2008, continued his tremendous form in the first edition of IPL. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson went on to register magnificent performances for his side, the Rajasthan outfits, and was thus ultimately adjudged as the Man of the Series. Shane Watson ended the first campaign of IPL in 2008 with 472 runs and 17 wickets from just 15 games.
  • Sohail Tanvir Wins the Purple Cap – Rajasthan Royals were the most balanced side of IPL 2008. The team not only relied on their batting prowess but also relied heavily on their bowling department, and accordingly, they delivered. Pakistan medium-pacer Sohail Tanvir, one of the prized-bought players for RR went on to have a tremendous season as he won the purple cap of the season after picking up 22 wickets from just 11 games.
  • Player of the final – Yusuf Pathan – Yousuf Pathan played a key knock for Rajasthan Royals in the finals of the IPL 2008 against the Chennai Super Kings. His brilliant performance in the finals earned him the Player of the Finals award.
    The hard-hitting batter when on to register a quick-firing fifty off just 39 deliveries and ended up picking up 3 wickets by giving away 39 runs.

  • Shane Warne – Only Coach & Captain to win the IPL – The legendary Shane Warne holds a very unique record/milestone in his career pertaining to the Indian Premier League. Apart from winning the maiden edition of the IPL in 2008, he also is the first player and coach of his team to lift the IPL trophy.
  • RR Tops the Points table And becomes Champions – There have been quite a few occasions when a team has gone against all odds to win the title. However, that has not been the case for Rajasthan Royals in 2008. The side won 11 games and 3 games in the group stage to register 22 points on the table. They easily became the table-toppers and then went on to win the Qualifier 1 and ultimately the finals.
  • First bowler in the history of IPL to pick 6 wickets – Sohail Tanvir had a remarkable season for RR and also went on to become the first-ever bowler in the history of the Indian Premier League to scalp 6 wickets in a game. In a match against Chennai Super Kings, the Pakistani bowler bagged 6 wickets off 14 runs as he wreaked havoc on the opposition.
  •  Fastest Fifty of IPL 2008- Yusuf Pathan – Yousuf Pathan showcased his talent at the Internation level in IPL 2008 when he put up splendid performances for his side. The ever-hard-hitter went on to score the fastest fifty of the tournament as he hammered Delhi Daredevils (erstwhile Delhi Capitals) a fine half-century in just 21 balls.

  • Shane Warne first spinner to bag 19 wickets – Spin bowling has always been an art. But in the shortest form of cricket, it has often been the spinners who are hit the most for sixes. But, a certain Shane Warne turned the tide as he went on to bag 19 wickets in his maiden season, the most by any spinner that season. Only Sohail Tanvir, a fast bowler had more wickets than Warne (22).
  • Halla Bol Anthem – The first season of IPL 2008 brought different eye-catching team anthems in IPL. Rajasthan Royals too brought their own iconic ‘Halla Bol’ anthem. With actress and co-owner Shilpa Shetty dancing to the grooves of the song and Illa Arun singing, the catch song became an instant hit among the RR fans.
