FIFA has posted a very special video on their social media which includes 100 of the best goals scored in the World Cup competition. It includes the famous goals of James Rodriguez, Van Persie, Lionel Messi, Pele, Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo while also featuring the prominent 7-1 game between Germany and Brazil. The countdown to the greatest football show on Earth has begun.

The most compact FIFA World Cup since 1930 and the very first edition to be held in the Middle East and Arab world will kick off 100 days from now, on Sunday 20 November 2022 with a standalone match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.

The group stage will have four games on 11 matchdays, ensuring the action comes thick and fast in the opening phase. Fans will be able to follow the action from wherever they are in the world or on-site in one of the eight state-of-the-art stadiums, the FIFA Fan Festival or the many cultural and entertainment events planned in and around Doha.

Qatar is excited, and so is the world – 2.4 million tickets have been sold, and FIFA has received over 420,000 applications to volunteer at the FIFA World Cup 2022. In Doha, hundreds of fans are taking part in “100 Days To Go” public activations that include gaming zones, photo opportunities and a chance to win much sought-after tickets for the opening match.

On the digital scene, FIFA+ is launching the “100 great World Cup moments” series, showcasing daily, from now to 20 November, the most incredible images of football’s flagship event. Today and in the coming weeks, FIFA’s social media platforms will also feature 100 goals in 100 seconds, 100 players set for the FIFA World Cup and 22 answers to questions from fans – from the experience that awaits them in Qatar to the action on the pitch and the legacy the event will leave after the final whistle.
