Back in 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut for India in Tests in an away trip to West Indies

It is a brand-new start for the India Cricket Team in the ODI format. Last year, the team played just 3 ODI games in an away series to Sri Lanka, which they lost 2-0. But with the Champions Trophy less than a fortnight to go, the Men in Blue will be ready to go all guns blazing against the Three Lions. Heading into the game, India has two debutants. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana finally make their ODI debuts. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is out of the game with a right knee injury.

The preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy has begun. And finally, it is time for Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 50-over format. He had previously made his debut back in Tests in 2023 and then the T20Is. But now his time has come to play the ODIs. There will be a lot of expectations on the young southpaw as he will be keen to put out an impressive show.

2 debutants for India at Nagpur

Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s ODI debut was highly anticipated and finally, it has happened. The same has also been the case with Harshit Rana. He shot into the limelight after an impressive outing in IPL 2024. Following this, he was fast-tracked into the National Team. He made his Test debut in Australia. And against England in the T20I series, he made his debut in the shortest format of the game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of the standout performers for India ever since he made his debut. Be it in Tests or T20Is, he has shined brightly. He played an important part in India’s success by winning T20 World Cup 2024. And now the stage is set for the southpaw to sprinkle his class in the ODIs.

No Virat Kohli for Men in Blue

Virat Kohli misses out on the game with a right knee injury. Right before the toss, the ace batter was spotted with strapping on his knee. He was also spotted walking gingerly towards the other players. Now this can be a big concern for the team right before the start of the mega tournament.

On the other hand, KL Rahul has pepper Rishabh Pant for the keeper’s place in the team. Shreyas Iyer slots in at 3rd while Shubman Gill moves down to the 4th spot to provide adequate stability to the middle order. Axar Patel, Hardik, and Jadeja will work as the anchors in the lower middle order.

India has 3 pacers and 3 spin options in the game. Mohammed Shami leads the pace attack with Harshit Rana and Hardik Pandya. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Jadeja comprise the spin unit.
