Yashasvi Jaiswal ends jinx against South Africa, scores 1st fifty against Proteas

Yashasvi Jaiswal broke free from the shackles of poor form against South Africa and scored his maiden fifty against the Proteas

India cricket team star Yashasvi Jaiswal finally managed to overcome his demons against South Africa as he slammed a blistering half-century on Monday. Resuming the innings for India on 7 runs, the opener slammed a 85-ball half-century on Day 3 of the IND vs SA 2nd Test in Guwahati. Prior to this match, Jaiswal has never managed to go past the 30-run mark against South Africa and had miserable figures against them.

Jaiswal overcomes demons against SA

Jaiswal slammed six fours and one six en route to his half-century on Day 3 of IND vs SA 2nd Test. The opener mixed up his shots very well and balanced aggression and patience perfectly, allowing him to negotiate South African spinners with ease. The half-century will boost Jaiswal’s confidence after he was dismissed for 12 and 0 in the 1st Test in Kolkata. Yashasvi’s innings came to a grinding halt as he was dismissed for 58 runs by Simon Harmer.

Before the IND vs SA 2nd Test, Jaiswal registered scores of 17, 5, 0, 28, 12 and 0 against the Proteas, with the first two knocks in Centurion in 2023, two in Cape Town. and the last two at Eden Gardens.

Yashasvi Jaiswal vs SA in Tests so far

Overall, the southpaw has managed to score 120 runs against South Africa in Tests in 7 innings and averages 17.14. His highest score is now his 58-run knock in the 1st innings of the IND vs SA 2nd Test at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

India have a tall task at hand as South Africa amassed a mammoth 489-run total in their 1st innings.
