There is a perpetual joke about Pakistani people breaking their television (TV) screens whenever they lose to arch-nemesis India. They will have another opportunity for axing their feet when the two nations collide in a high-octane clash at the ICC Champions Trophy. However, former Pakistani batter feels that the Pakistanis won’t be able to break their TVs because of their unfortunate economic conditions.
Basit Ali bashes Pakistanis before IND vs PAK
“Agar one-sided hota hai, toh ab TV bhi nahi tootenge kyunki Pakistan mei mehangai bahut zyada hai. Ab zabaan se hi har cheez hogi (If Pakistan lose one-sided against India, the fans will not thrash their TV sets because of country’s economic situation. Now there will be only voiced opinion),” he said on his YouTube channel ‘Basit Ali’ (via The Indian Express).
The former Pakistani cricketer also expressed his doubts about Pakistan’s chances against India in the 2025 Champions Trophy. He believes that India is the clear favorite to win, citing Pakistan’s struggling cricket team as the reason. Basit Ali also criticized Pakistan’s batting approach, stating that the top-order batters are unable to accelerate their scoring rate.

“India are favorites. There is no doubt about that. In my opinion, if Pakistan manage to beat India, it will be an upset because our cricket has gone down and is at all time low,” he added.
With Fakhar Zaman injured, Basit Ali is concerned about the team’s batting lineup, particularly the number three spot. He suggested that Babar Azam should return to the number three position, with Usman Khan opening the batting alongside Imam-Ul-Haq.
“Fakhar Zaman is out. Now Pakistan’s batting line-up from number one to five similar. If there car is running in the third gear, then it will stay in the third gear. ut won’t be able to switch into turbo mode in the last five or 10 overs,” the former cricketer said.
