Notably, this score also remains the lowest total defended in IPL history till date.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)’ newest home turf, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, has quickly gained attention for some exciting T20 matches and notable run chases. Established in 2024, the venue is the successor of the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. And already, Mullanpur Stadium has hosted T20Is, women’s ODIs and Indian Premier League matches.

During the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), the Shreyas Iyer-led side created history in front of their home crowd as they successfully defended the lowest total. In what was match 31 of IPL 2025, PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair of Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) and Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15) provided a brisk start, but none of the other batters could contribute much to this as the PBKS were restricted to 111/10 in 15.3 overs by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In reply, the Punjab bowlers stood up on the occasion and provided crucial breakthroughs, thus bundling out the visitors at the score of 95 in 15.1 overs, courtesy brilliant spells from Yuzvendra Chahal (4/28) and Marco Jansen (3/17). As a result, PBKS defended the lowest total on this surface, etching history.

Prior to this, the lowest total ever defended in IPL history was by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against PBKS in IPL 2009, when they defended 116 runs after restricting the Punjab side to 92.
