Rohit Sharma to open with Ryan Rickelton followed by four superb batting talents in Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Will Jacks and Hardik Pandya. But what about next? Plus, his aggression, and capacity to bowl overs are factors that MI dearly needs. Jamal was let go by Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi despite a superb PSL 2024. He made 138 runs at an average of 34.50 and a rollicking strike rate of 162.35. Although he managed to face more than 10 balls just once, he hammered a 49-ball 87 in his only opportunity. He is one of those rare pace-bowling all-rounders who can change the course of a game at any juncture. Pairing him with Pandya would surely mean mayhem. However, if it is really going to happen, Ryan Rickelton should drop to the bench to comply with the 4-man strong overseas quota. Talented batters like KL Shrijith or Minz could come in as openers. MI a lack strong Indian spinner, so we also can’t drop Mitchell Santner.
