It seems, that even before the IPL 2026 auction has started, just about every team is interested in buying Australia all-rounder Cameron Green. The youngster had missed out on the previous edition due to an injury, but is fully fit now, and is on the wish list for sure. That means, for all the sides which have the resources, will put in all their might, to get the value-for-money Green.
That could effectively mean, his bid could go well over 20-25 cr. And that is not the kind of money all the teams can afford. So, InsideSport takes a look at the alternatives to Cameron Green, for each team, as per their remaining purse.
Chennai Super Kings – Purse (43.40 Cr)
CSK have enough purchasing power to get Cameron Green. Nonetheless, if he does not figure on their plan, their alternate could be Beau Webster. In 96 T20 matches, he has scored over 1800 runs at an average of 27. To go with that, he has 25 wickets to his name.
Delhi Capitals – Purse (21.80 Cr)
DC does not have big names when it comes to the all-rounders category. But their purse isn’t too big as well. So, Vijay Shankar, and Wiaan Mulder are the options for them. They might have to look at Indian domestic all-rounders too.
Gujarat Titans – Purse (12.90 Cr)
They have Glenn Phillips and Washington Sundar, but a pace-bowling all-rounder is what they need. They released Sri Lankan Dasun Shanaka, and should be looking to buy him back.
Kolkata Knight Riders – Purse (64.30 Cr)
With such a massive purse, they can afford to over-spend on Cam Green. But other than that, they should also be looking at Beau Webster, Wiaan Mulder, or someone like a Jason Holder.
Lucknow Super Giants – Purse (22.95 Cr)
The team has Arjun Tendulkar and Arshin Kulkarni, both not the most experienced contenders. New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson should be a good option, and if they want to look at Indian players, there is a certain untested RS Ambrish.
Mumbai Indians – Purse (2.75 Cr)
MI did a good job at the IPL retention, so they won’t have much purchasing to do at the IPL auction 2026. A purse of under 3 cr, and they have five slots remaining. So they would be looking at uncapped players largely — Ambrish fits the bill here.
Punjab Kings – Purse (11.50 Cr)
They have Stonis, Jansen and OMarzai, so not much is needed to be done in the all-rounder department. Yet, if they want to enter the market, they should be looking for Vijay Shankar. They have four slots remaining.
Rajasthan Royals – Purse (16.05 Cr)
The team got Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in a trade with CSK, so they would be more than happy at the moment. If at all they are looking at budget options/back ups, they can look at Hyderabad domestic veteran Chama Milind. There is also Cam Bosch’s brother – Ethan Bosch, who will go under the hammer.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Purse (16.40 Cr)
They too are a squad with decent presence of all-rounders. With eight slots left to be filled, Jr. Bosch is an option and even Wiaan Mulder. Cameron Green is out of their reach, money-wise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Purse (25.50 Cr)
Wesbster should be on their wish list, along with Mulder. They can afford to spend a bit on a premium all-rounder.
