It seemed only one team was focused on the match during the India vs Pakistan game. Newsflash: it was the team that ended up winning the game in Dubai. Players from the losing team, Pakistan, were more focused on giving viral moments for social media.
Pakistan team’s questionable behavior
Take Sahibzada Farhan. The Pakistani opener pulled out a gun celebration after scoring his fifty, seemingly mocking victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Farhan ended up scoring 58 runs at a 128.89 strike rate. In contrast, Indian opener Abhishek Sharma scored 74 runs at 189.74. He too celebrated. You know what it was? An ‘L’ sign, through which he sends love to his fans.
Shaheen Afridi abused Abhishek and Shubman Gill. The end result was 40/0 from 3.5 overs. And then comes Haris Rauf. He was Pakistan’s best bowler of the day but mocked Indian fans by bringing up the recent skirmish between India and Pakistan. He enacted a common misbelief in Pakistan that their air force knocked down 6 Indian jets and sustained no damage themselves.
In response, none of the Indian bowlers did anything. They didn’t even sledge Pakistan batter. Abhishek and Gill got into tiffs, but it was evident that Pakistani bowlers Haris and Shaheen were the ones who initiated them.
Team India unbothered by Haris Rauf’s conduct
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has praised his team for their conduct during the India vs Pakistan match. He saw what Haris did, but states that neither he nor the team cares about what the pacer did.
“The amount of pressure that has been heaped on the players because of the situation, it’s very difficult to control your behaviour. I did some of the things Haris did, and that’s not our concern. We are really proud of how the guys carried themselves. We fought fire with bats in the field. Other teams may have issues with some of the things we have done, but from our side, we are delighted with how our guys have carried themselves,” Ryan told reporters in Dubai.
