The Colombo Strikers secured their second consecutive win in the Lanka Premier League, defeating Galle Marvels by seven wickets at R Premadasa Stadium. CSK star pacer, Matheesha Pathirana was the standout performer as the Strikers recorded their fourth victory of the competition and qualified for the playoffs.
Apart from his excellent 4-wicket haul, Pathirana mopped up Galle Marvels tail in the final over of the innings by cleaning up Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay with searing Yorkers in successive deliveries. WATCH:
Apart from Matheesha Pathirana, his bowling teammates Dunith Wellalage and Shadab Khan also chipped in with two wickets each.
Later in the run-chase, Colombo Strikers number three batter Muhammad Waseem flogged 50 runs from 44 balls before Glenn Phillips and Sadeera Samarawickrama steered their team to a seven-wicket victory in the penultimate over of the match.
Meanwhile, Matheesha Pathirana’s match-winning spell extended his LPL 2024 tally to 10 wickets from the first seven innings of the tournament. The young fast bowler also claimed a four-wicket haul against Kandy Falcons back on July 6.
