Massive trouble for the India cricket team before the ICC Champions Trophy Final? Could star batter Virat Kohli miss the India vs. New Zealand match due to an injury? During Team India’s final preparations at the ICC Academy in Dubai, Kohli was hit in the leg by a pacer.
Virat Kohli hit before Champions Trophy Final
According to GeoNews, Kohli was hit near his knee and experienced pain, which forced him to stop his practice. As expected, the medical staff travelling with Team India rushed to attend to Kohli. The magic spray, which quickly alleviates pain, was applied, and soon Kohli could be spotted with wrapping on his leg.
The injury didn’t seem to be severe as Kohli didn’t leave and was present until the training session wasn’t complete. Later, the Indian coaching staff stated that Kohli wasn’t heavily hampered and will in all likelihood be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy Final.
What if Virat Kohli doesn’t play in IND vs NZ match?
Kohli has been Team India’s best batter in the tournament. The number three was the top scorer in the two biggest matches, against Pakistan and in the Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia. He’s the ultimate ODI batter and knows how to take the game forward.
If Kohli isn’t available, Rishabh Pant, who hasn’t played a match in the tournament, will be added to the playing XI. Safe to say, that won’t be ideal. You’ll have to move the greatest number three in the history of ODIs and replace him with someone who hasn’t played a 50-over match in August last year. The Indian support staff has claimed that Kohli should be fit for the India vs. New Zealand match, and fans would hope so as well.
