India’s U-19 star batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi must be all of 14, but is one for the future. After impressing in the IPL for RR, the teenager got a chance to play in the U19 series against England in England, and now the Australia series in the age group, is on his radar. Vaibhav Suryavanshi Taking Giant Steps in U19 Cricket

In fact, Vaibhav Suryavanshi reached the NCA on August 10, where technical drills and match-specific drills are specially designed for him. And he is accompanied by his coach Manish Ojha. The latter, in detail, revealed what the purpose of this stint will be for Suryavanshi.

BCCI is looking ahead. The senior players are gradually retiring, and to fill that vacuum, the next batch of youngsters must be fully ready. This training for Vaibhav is part of that process. We pick boys one by one and prepare them accordingly for the demands of international cricket,” Ojha explained.

Starts Training at NCA Bengaluru

The practice at the NCA will continue for about a week, post which Suryavanshi will join rest of his teammates. Already an established name in white-ball cricket, Ojha wants to bring up his performance in the red-ball cricket too. “He has the ability to attack from the very first ball, which is a huge positive in T20s and one-dayers.

“You’ve seen it in the IPL, U-19, and Vijay Hazare. But in longer formats, the performance level drops compared to white-ball cricket. The goal is to bring that consistency up. If he plays 10 innings, 7-8 should be impactful.” Meanwhile, the U19 Australia tour is slated to start on September 21, where the Indian team will play three ODIs and two Tests.
