UP Warriorz did not qualify for the playoffs in the previous edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). However, the team opted to retain its core players and build around the stars who have made a significant impact in recent years.
Captain Alyssa Healy remains with the team and will continue to play a crucial role, having scored 427 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 130.48.
Star England spinner Sophie Ecclestone has been retained as well. The 25-year-old has been outstanding in the WPL, taking 27 wickets in 17 matches. Among Indian players, Deepti Sharma has also been retained. She was exceptional in the Women’s Hundred, but since then, the 27-year-old has not been in her prime form. Representing Gujarat in 17 matches, she scored 385 runs and claimed 19 wickets.
Grace Harris and Tahlia McGrath, have also been kept in the squad.
They have released Laxmi Yadav, Parshavi Chopra, S. Yashasri, and Lauren Bell. Additionally, they have traded Danni Wyatt to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
