Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons is confident of his side putting up a show in the IND vs BAN clash on Thursday. Bangladesh qualified for the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 with a win over Afghanistan, and added another one over Sri Lanka. India meanwhile are unbeaten in the competition, having defeated Pakistan again on Sunday.
We will try our best: Simmons on IND vs BAN in Asia Cup 2025
India are the No.1 T20I side in the world and have notched up four straight wins in Asia Cup 2025. They are favourites for the game against Bangladesh in Dubai. The Men in Blue have a 8-match winning streak against the Bangla Tigers. Bangladesh have won just 1 T20I against India since 2009.
However, Phil Simmons is not bogged down by the prospect of facing the in form team. The former West Indian cricketer claimed that in T20s, any team can beat the other on a given day.
“Every team has the ability to beat India. The game is played on the day. It’s not what India has done before. It’s what happens on Wednesday. It’s what happens during that three and a half hour period. We will try to play as best as we can and hope to find chinks in India’s armoury. That’s the way we win games,” Simmons said in his pre-match press conference.
India have been the dominant side and there is an air of inevitability surrounding the Indian team in T20Is. Suryakumar Yadav and Co have won 32 matches since the start of 2024, losing just 3 games. Simmons, who was part of the famed West Indies outfit of the 80s, understands the hype surrounding the Men in Blue.
“Every game, especially games involving India, have a hype because they’re the number one T20 team in the world. There must be a hype. We’re just going to ride on the hype. We’re going to enjoy the moment and enjoy the game,” he added.
