Team Manager leaves India midway through Champions Trophy due to personal reasons

R Devraj had joined Team India as their manager just two weeks ago, specifically for the ICC Champion Trophy.

Indian cricket team manager R Devraj has left for India. Having joined the Men in Blue for their ICC Champions Trophy campaign as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wanted their new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed strictly, Devraj’s time with Team India has been cut short due to the death of his mother.

Team India manager returns home

The India vs. New Zealand match is going on at the moment, and Devraj isn’t present with the team. Currently serving as the Hyderabad Cricket Association secretary, the board provided an update as to why Devraj will return to India.

“With deep sorrow, we inform you that our Secretary Devraj’s mother, Kamaleshwari garu, has passed away. May her soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Devraj garu and his family,” the HCA said in a statement.

Right now, it isn’t sure whether the Indian manager will return to join the side in Dubai or not. The outcome of the India vs. New Zealand game won’t change the fact that Rohit Sharma and co. will play the first semifinal at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 4.
