IN his ODI career Suryakumar Yadav has played 37 matches scoring only 773 runs at an average of 25.

Suryakumar Yadav has been going through a rough patch in international cricket, where he is yet to get a fifty in T20I this year. Despite having an excellent IPL 2025, where he scored over 600 runs in the seasons, performances haven’t translated into anything substantial; his highest score has been only 47.

Suryakumar Yadav keen to make ODI comeback

Such has been his career, where despite being tried out in the ODIs, playing the World Cup 2023, he could not cement his place in the format. It seems he had a tough time juggling the formats. But then he is still open to learn that art of adapting to different formats of the game.

Asks ABD for help

In a recent podcast with Vimal Kumar, Suryakumar Yadav expressed his desire to learn the same from the best in the world — AB de Villiers. He said, “If I meet him soon, then I will like to ask him how he managed to balance his T20I and ODI game. I haven’t been able to do so. I thought ODIs should be played like T20Is. I want to ask him what he did to be successful in both the formats.

Surya also clarified that he has 3-4 important years left in his career, and is keen to play ODIs as well. Without any hesitation, he asked for help. “AB, if you are listening to this, please get in touch with me quickly because there are important three-four years lying ahead for me. I’m very keen on playing ODI cricket also. Please help me! I couldn’t balance T20Is and ODIs.”
