Strike rate ka Betaaj Badshah! Abhishek Sharma continues destruction trend in Asia Cup

In the history of cricket, no one has a higher strike rate in T20I cricket than Abhishek Sharma (minimum 500 runs scored).

Abhishek Sharma is the most dangerous and fearsome batter in T20I cricket. This isn’t subjective; at this point, it’s a fact. The Indian opener doesn’t attack; he demolishes bowlers. In the powerplay, he chews and spits anything thrown at him.

He’s dismantled the South African and English attack. Perhaps the only thing left was to see him perform in a multi-nation tournament and in tough batting conditions. Abhishek has aced both of these requirements. In the ongoing Asia Cup, not only has the 25-year-old scored 94 more runs than the second-best batter, but he’s also the only batter to strike at over 200.

After four consecutive scores of over 30, Abhishek has continued that trend against Bangladesh. Despite being 8 (8), a very slow start by his standards, he ended the powerplay with the score of 46 (19), scoring 38 runs in his next 11 balls. He tonked Bangladeshi bowlers left, right, and centre.

Spin or pace, whatever came his way, went over the boundary line. Having already scored a hundred, Abhishek looked set to score his 3rd T20I hundred. But luck wasn’t in his favour, as a misunderstanding with Suryakumar Yadav saw him run out. But Abhishek has proved why he sends shivers down the opposition’s spine.

Highest strike rate in T20Is (minimum 500 runs)

Since the inception of T20I cricket, no one with 500 or more runs has a better strike rate than Abhishek. What’s astonishing is that no one has even struck at 170, while Abhishek scores nearly 2 runs per ball.
