The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set their sights on Stephen Fleming, the Chennai Super Kings’ legendary head coach, as a potential successor to Rahul Dravid. The BCCI officially initiated its search for a new head coach on Monday (May 14), with the position expected to be filled after the T20 World Cup 2024.

According to reports by Indian Express, Fleming’s impressive track record with CSK makes him a strong candidate to take the reins from Dravid. However, a potential roadblock emerges in the form of the BCCI’s demand for a coach across all formats, requiring a ten-month annual commitment.
Fleming’s successful tenure with CSK comes as no surprise to the BCCI. He was a shrewd captain during his playing days for New Zealand. His coaching stint in the IPL exemplifies his immense value as well. As the league’s longest-serving coach, he has steered CSK to five IPL titles and two Champions League trophies.
