India wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel, on Thursday, was named the captain of the Central Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025, starting this month. Jurel was recently part of the IND vs ENG series, and played the lest Test. The youngster has been in the scheme of things for the Indian team for some time now, and is looked as a future prospect.
Dhruv Jurel to Lead Central Zone
As far as the other players are concerned, RCB skipper, who won the team’s first-ever IPL title, was selected in the team, but was not made the skipper. He had an excellent Ranji Trophy last season, where he went on to score 529 runs in 11 innings, at an average of 48. Jurel on the other hand, didn’t play any.
Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed also made it to the squad. With the inclusion of players from UP and Vidarbha as well, the Central Zone team looked one of the stronger teams in the competition, who open their campaign against North East Zone, on August 28.
Shubman Gill Named North Zone Skipper
Meanwhile, the North Zone selectors too named their squad earlier in the day, with Shubman Gill all set to lead the team. Apart from him, the team has international stars like Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and also Anshul Kamboj. Though the participation of these stars might not be confirmed, since some of them could be called for Asia Cup duties, that starts in September.
