Smriti Mandhana & Deepti Sharma make it to ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year 2024

Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma made it to the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year 2024.

India’s stylish opening batter Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma made it into the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year 2024. They are the only two players from India who made it into the World ODI XI. Most of the players in the playing XI are from England. Australia & India have 2-2 players in the XI. It’s good news from the women’s team because, in the Men’s ICC ODI team of the year, none of the players from India made it into the XI.

Smriti Mandhana’s great year

Smriti Mandhana, with 747 runs in 13 matches, emerged as the top run scorer in 2024. She started the year strong and played well against South Africa with consecutive centuries, earning the Player of the Series award. Her consistency continued with a century against New Zealand, making her India’s leading century-maker in the format. Mandhana’s brilliant season has also made her a contender for the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award.

Deepti Sharma’s all-Round impact

Deepti Sharma showed her versatility, taking 24 wickets and contributing crucial runs for the Indian cricket team in 2024. Her performances against New Zealand and the West Indies were particularly notable. Deepti’s skill in batting and bowling strengthens India’s lineup, promising that she’ll do better in the coming years.

Other players in the W-ODI XI for 2024

Hayley Matthews from the West Indies impressed with 469 runs and nine wickets, showing great all-round skills. Marizanne Kapp from South Africa excelled with both bat and ball. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner consistently performed well, enhancing her reputation as an all-rounder. Annabel Sutherland, also from Australia, stood out. Players like Laura Wolvaardt and Chamari Athapaththu are also part of the top XI players.
