Pakistan star Sidra Amin has been pulled up by the ICC for her conduct in the India vs Pakistan clash in the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025. The two rivals met in Colombo on Sunday, with the Women in Blue clinching a convincing 88-run win. Amin was one of the lone warriors for Pakistan, top scoring with a record 81.

Sidra Amin handed one demerit point, fined for breach of conduct

Pakistan had a game to forget but Sidra Amin walked away with a good performance in Colombo. The right-hander held the Pakistan innings together, scoring more than half of her side’s runs. She eventually managed 81 off 108, the highest by a Pakistan player against India in Women’s cricket. Her wicket marked the end of Pakistan’s chase and she showed her disappointment by slamming the bat onto the pitch.

Sidra thus was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The article relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

She was also handed one demerit. It was her first offence in a 24-month period, adding to her discplinary record. Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandré Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton levelled the charge. Since it a Level 1 breach, Amin could be fined upto 50% of her match fee. The fine is levied alongside demerit points. A total of 4 demerit points withing a 24-month period leads to suspension points. Two suspension points result in a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is.
