Pakistan’s horror show with the bat continued in Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Green need a win in the PAK vs BAN clash to qualify for the final against India on Sunday. However, Saim Ayub’s record duck encapsulated their batting display at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.

Saim Ayub breaks record for most ducks in a year

Pakistan chose their most important match of the Asia Cup 2025 to put up their worst batting performance. Put into bat, the Salman Agha led side dragged themselves to a lowly 27/2 in the powerplay. The first six overs has been the best phase to bat in the tournament and Pakistan stumbled against Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan in Dubai.

Sahibzada Farhan has led his side’s charge in the early overs but was dismissed in the very first over. Saim Ayub registered his fourth duck of Asia Cup 2025 in yet another sorry batting display. Ayub now has the most ducks in a calendar year, alongside teammate Hasan Nawaz.

Pakistab’s malaise only extended as the game went on. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Agha could not do much in terms of resurrecting the innings. Pakistan slipped to 46/4 at the halfway stage. In Asia Cup 2025, only Hong Kong have had a lower score at the halfway stage in any game.
