Ruturaj Gaikwad hopes that things will change with 'young wicketkeeper' leading CSK

Ruturaj Gaikwad hopeful of CSK’s turnaround in IPL 2025 under the leadership of the ‘young wicketkeeper'.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to an elbow injury. He has shared his thoughts on the new captain who will lead the team — a ‘young wicketkeeper.’ But who is this young wicketkeeper he is referring to? Let’s find out.

Ruturaj statement after ruled out of the IPL 2025

Gaikwad shared a video on the CSK’s X (twitter) handle where he adressed team’s disappointing performance and told and it will get improved with the new leadership.

“Hello everyone, Ruturaj this side. Really gutted to be missing future part of the IPL due to an unfortunate elbow injury. But, thank you for your support until now. Yes, we have been struggling a while, you know..now that a young wicketkeeper leading the team, hopefully things will change. I am gonna be there with the team, really support them,” Ruturaj said.

“Definitely would have love to take this team out of this situation, but you know some things are not controllable. As I said, definitely looking forward to support the team from the dug-out and hopefully we have a great season ahead. Thank you.”

Who is the ‘young wicketkeeper’ to lead CSK?

The uncapped player MS Dhoni will be leading CSK for the remainder of IPL 2025. Ruturaj Gaikwad jokingly referred to Dhoni as the “young wicketkeeper” due to his exceptional fitness, agility behind the stumps, and his sharp tactical mind that continues to influence the team’s strategy.

With Dhoni’s vast experience and five IPL titles under his belt, he could be the key to turning around CSK’s poor form and shifting the momentum back in their favor.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of IPL with fracture on elbow. MS Dhoni to take over as captain,” Fleming told mediapersons on Thursday.
