Former India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was forced to depart for a golden duck in Mumbai’s round 2 Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Uttarakhand on Friday. The Hitman, who announced his return to the domestic 50-over tournament after over a decade earlier this week, lasted for just one delivery before he was sent packing. Uttarakhand won the toss and opted to field first in the game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday. Follow Round 2 of VHT 2025/26 LIVE here.
Rohit dismissed for golden duck
Opening the innings for Mumbai, Rohit was caught out by Jagmohan Nagarkoti off Bora in the final delivery of the very first over in the VHT 2025/26 round 2 game. The Hitman was dismissed while attempting his favourite pull shot off the bowler. Fans, who had queued up at the SMS stadium since 6 AM on Friday were left disappointed by his early dismissal. It is pertinent to note that this was the Hitman’s last domestic 50-over game before the IND vs NZ series as he was scheduled to play just two games in the tournament. Sharma would have surely hoped for a better outing, given the red-hot form that he is in.
In Round 1 of VHT 2025/26, Rohit Sharma showed everyone why he is world’s No. 1 ranked ODI batter. After getting his fifty in just 28 balls, Rohit continued his dominance in the run-chase and single-handedly won Mumbai the game. He slammed 155 runs off 94 balls, delighting the crowd at SMS in Jaipur. As a result, the target of 237 runs was chased down in just 30.3 overs. The former Indian captain hammered bowlers with utter disdain, clamouring 18 fours and 9 huge sixes.
