Mumbai cricket team captain Ajinkya Rahane provided an update on Rohit Sharma’s before ahead of the second leg of Ranji Trophy. The Indian Test captain will make his return to the domestic red-ball tournament for the first time in 10 years. His decision to participate in the tourney comes after the BCCI’s directive to all the players to compulsorily take part in domestic matches.
Rohit Sharma all set for Ranji Trophy return
As per Times of India, Rahane shed light on Rohit’s form in the nets and said that he looked good over the last couple of days. The Hitman joined the training camp last week and has been working alongside his teammates. Earlier today, he was seen batting in the nets as he geared up for the match against Jammu and Kashmir which commences on January 23.
“Rohit Sharma has been looking good in the nets over the last two days,” Rahane said on Wednesday.

Sharma has been in miserable form with the bat since the latter half of 2024. In IND vs AUS series, he only managed to score 31 runs. His poor form coupled with flawed techniques require him to return to domestic cricket to rediscover his mojo.
Rohit’s return to domestic cricket has created a buzz, with the MCA being forced to increase the seating capacity at the BKC stadium from 100 to 500. Mumbai have received a huge boost as Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal return to the side for the second leg of the tournament. Apart from these two, Mumbai’s star-studded line-up also comprises of Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Rahane, Shivam Dube among others.
