The latest International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI batting rankings are in after a successful Champions Trophy 2025. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has emphatically jumped two places to become the world’s third-best ranked batter in 50-over cricket. He has displaced Virat Kohli as well, who was previously at fourth spot but has now moved to fifth. Notably, Kohli was out for just a solitary run in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill continues to be the number one ranked batter after he attained the top spot during the white-ball home series against England earlier this year.
Rohit Sharma surpasses Kohli & Rachin’s huge jump
As many as five of India’s batters were in the top 15 highest run-getters at the ICC Champions Trophy. Fascinatingly, Shreyas Iyer, who scored 243 runs (most for IND) has remained at the eighth spot. Virat Kohli, who played a couple of delightful knocks, made 218 runs in the tournament and is now at the fifth spot with 736 rating points. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, didn’t make enough runs prior to the final but saved his best for the last. In the summit clash, he hammered 76 that won him the Player of the Match award as well.
One of the massive jumps, at the recent ODI rankings, was made by Rachin Ravindra. He is amongst the most talented players in the current generation and his immense batting won him the Player of the Tournament award as well. From 28th position, Ravindra has jumped 14 places higher to stand at 14th rank with 643 rating points. With two centuries in the tournament, including one in the semi-final, Ravindra received massive plaudits and at just 25, the southpaw already has the most ICC hundreds for New Zealand.
