India cricket team wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is expected to make his comeback soon. The southpaw suffered a fractured toe during the IND vs ENG 4th Test at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. He was subsequently ruled of the remainder of the series and was unavailable for selection for Asia Cup 2025 as well.
Pant to begin rehab at CoE from next week
As per RevSportz, Pant will join the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) next week to commence his rehab process. The southpaw will be hoping to be fit in time for the two-match Test series against West Indies which will begin from October 2 onwards. Earlier this week, reports had claimed that Pant had spent a few days in Mumbai consulting specialist doctors. The report claimed that the keeper has received a timeline from specialists and will work towards regaining full fitness shortly.
Rishabh had returned to competitive cricket in IPL 2024 after being on the sidelines for over a year due to a horrific car crash. He made his comeback to international cricket in the T20 World Cup in 2024 where he emerged victorious. Following that tournament, he was a part of the Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand at home followed by a gruelling five-match series against Australia at Down Under. He then took part in IPL 2025, where he had a rather sub-par season. Pant was last part of the 5-match IND vs ENG Test series where he managed to score two hundreds and three fifties, including a fighting half-century in Manchester despite a fractured toe.
While Dhruv Jurel has filled in for India in Tests in Pant’s absence, India will be hoping that Pant will be fit in time for the home series against West Indies. The Men in Blue will take on South Africa next in November following the WI assignment.
