Former Lucknow Super Giants star Ravi Bishnoi has been sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.20 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. The spinner, who was retained for Rs 11 crore before the mega auction in the previous year, underperformed, leading to his release. The out-of-favour Indian spinner will now play for RR.
Bishnoi finds new home in RR
Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings kicked off the bidding war for Bishnoi, who registered for a base price of Rs 2 crore. While CSK pulled out halfway through, SRH entered the battle late. Eventually, it was RR who managed to seal the deal, signing Bishnoi for Rs 7.20 crore.
With 72 IPL wickets at an economy of under 8.5, Bishnoi was one of the formidable spinners in both T20Is and IPL. However, his form over the last year has been poor, and hence has been dropped from the Indian T20I side. In IPL 2025, he managed to pick up just 9 wickets from 11 matches, with breakout star Digvesh Rathi stealing his spotlight in LSG.
With RR releasing Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, Bishnoi will have a huge role to play in the side along with Ravindra Jadeja.
“There’s nothing better than getting the opportunity to play for your home team. Bowling alongside Ravindra Jadeja will mean a lot to me — it will be a huge learning experience because there is so much to learn from him. He has been playing for such a long time and is one of the best all-rounders in this format, not just in India but overall. I’m really looking forward to learning from him. We also have a very supportive wicket at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The long boundaries there will definitely help us in this IPL,” Bishnoi told JioHotstar.
