Rajeev Shukla silences Pakistani media on "advantage" issue, makes stance clear on IND-PAK series

Champions Trophy: There has been a lot of resistance in Pakistan, over India playing all their matches in Dubai, following their excellent performance.

The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand, and that of course generated a lot of interest among the local journalists. The senior board member, as usual, was asked about the so-called advantage to the Indian team for playing all their matches in Dubai, generating a classic reply from him.

Pakistan Cries Over India Advantage, Rajeev Shukla Responds

There has been a lot of dissatisfaction, especially in Pakistan, with India particularly doing so well in the tournament. But then Rajeev Shukla put it up rather simply. “When this decision was being made during the ICC meeting, it was decided that India-centric matches will be played in Dubai while the remaining games will be played in Dubai.

“So it’s not about fair or unfair and the Indian cricket team doesn’t play depending on pitches. There are different kind of pitches in Dubai ground as well. India play on performance, the players play on their skills not on the basis of the pitch,” said Shukla while speaking to the media at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

No India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series

The BCCI VP was also asked if there will be any resumption of bilateral series between India and Pakistan.. and to this also, he made it quite clear, that there is a long way to go in that. “As far as bilateral cricket relations between India and Pakistan is concerned, the decision is in the hands of the government.

“Whatever the government of India tells us, we’ll go by that. Moreover, it’s the policy of the BCCI and I guess it would be the same for the PCB as well that whichever bilateral games should take place on the soil of either of the two nations. It shouldn’t take place at a neutral venue, it’s a consistent policy by the BCCI,” he added.
