Rahul Dravid’s youngest son, Anvay, hits maiden hundred for Karnataka in U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy

Rahul Dravid's youngest son, Anvay, hits maiden hundred for Karnataka in U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy

Anvay had participated in the last edition of the Vijay Merchant Trophy and scored 357 runs at 44.63 in 5 matches.

The Dravid family’s rich cricket history continues. After father Rahul Dravid and elder brother Samit Dravid, Anvay Dravid has also scored his maiden hundred for Karnataka. Playing in the Under-16 domestic tournament, the Vijay Merchant Trophy, the teenager reached triple digits against Jharkhand U-16 at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu.

Anvay Dravid following father’s footsteps

Jharkhand had already batted in the red-ball match, having scored 387 runs. In reply, Karnataka U-16 scored 414/4 with Anvay Dravid notching up his hundred in 153 deliveries. Anvay, unlike his father, was batting in the middle order at number four. But, he’s also emulating his old man in a different aspect. He’s taken up the gloves and so far has played two matches for Karnataka as a wicketkeeper batter.

Coming to his innings, Anvay Dravid managed to hit 12 boundaries (10 fours and 2 sixes) in his unbeaten 100-run knock. In the previous match, he’d scored 75 runs, which included a half-century. Anvay had featured in the Vijay Merchant Trophy last year as well and had managed to score 357 runs. He’ll hope to score big runs again and make Karnataka’s U-19 side soon like his older brother, Samit.

Rahul Dravid’s older son, Samit

Samit Dravid was selected to play against Australia’s U-19 side in September. However, he couldn’t do much after suffering an injury that ruled him out. Samit couldn’t play in the U-19 Asia Cup 2024 that followed soon after as he’d crossed the age limit of 19 before the cut-off time. Now, Samit’s focus will somehow make it to Karnataka’s senior side and make his Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy debut soon.
