The Mumbai Cricket Association and the Maharashtra Cricket Association will investigate the Prithvi Shaw and Musheer Khan fight incident at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.
Prithvi Shaw-Musheer Khan fight
Prithvi, who used to play for Mumbai until last season, was subjected to heavy sledging by many of his former Mumbai teammates during the warm-up match played in preparation for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season.
After the opener was dismissed by Musheer Khan in the 74th over of the first innings, the bowler reportedly told Prithvi, “Thank you.” The Maharashtra batter got triggered by the passing comment.
Prithvi first tried to hit Musheer with his bat and then grab him by his collar. The umpires and players intervened, but things got so heated that Siddesh Lad continued to have a word with Prithvi until he left the field.
Both boards to investigate
The Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap has confirmed that Mumbai will investigate the matter, and former India Chairman of Selectors Dilip Vengsarkar will speak to both players.
“There will be a (Mumbai Ranji team) selection committee meeting on Thursday, so we will ask the Mumbai captain, coach, and the player about what happened. We will be getting a report of this incident during our selection committee meeting, and former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is our advisor, will speak to the players,” Hadap told Mid-Day.
The Maharashtra Cricket Association will also look into the matter. Secretary Kamlesh Pisal confirmed that both players will be talked to and they’ll ‘discipline’ them if necessary.
“I’m still awaiting the report on the incident. I will be obtaining detailed information about it, and if something is found, depending on the gravity of the situation and considering the importance of discipline, we will speak to both players (Shaw and Musheer). Discipline among players is a very important aspect,” said Pisal.
