The altercation happened on the first day of the Ranji Trophy warm-up match between Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Prithvi Shaw has reached out to Musheer Khan to bury the hatchet after their heated exchange during the Mumbai–Maharashtra practice match at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune. The incident had unfolded on Day 1 when Shaw, playing for Maharashtra against his former team, appeared to lose his cool after being dismissed by Musheer.

Prithvi Shaw the peacemaker!

The fiery opener, who had just completed a sublime 181 off 220 balls, was seen charging toward the young Mumbai all-rounder after reportedly being sledged on his way back. Three days later, Shaw took the first step to make peace.

During Maharashtra’s innings on Day 3, he walked up to Musheer after the fall of a wicket, put his arm around the youngster, and the two shared a brief but warm chat. “Prithvi realised his mistake and apologised to him, saying he’s like an elder brother,” a source told TOI.

Shaw’s innings, featuring 21 fours and three sixes, had set the tone for Maharashtra’s mammoth 305-run opening stand with Arshin Kulkarni, who made 186 off 140 balls. But the post-dismissal altercation took centre stage from what was otherwise a commanding performance. Maharashtra captain Ankit Bawne later played down the incident, saying, “These things happen in practice matches. It’s all good now.

Sarfaraz Khan back

In a related development, Mumbai received encouraging news as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer’s elder brother, has been declared fit for the upcoming Ranji Trophy. Having completed his rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after a quadriceps injury, Sarfaraz will rejoin the Mumbai squad for their opening game against Jammu & Kashmir starting October 15. The team, led by Sanjay Patil’s selection panel, will be named on Friday.

Sarfaraz last featured in a competitive match in May when India A toured England Lions. He made an encouraging 92. Following that, he missed the England tour as he was overlooked in place of Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan. After that, Sarfaraz shone brilliantly in the Buchi Babu Tournament, smacking two centuries before he got injured.
