Primarily known for his batting prowess, Iftikhar is a right-handed middle-order batsman who possesses the ability to anchor an innings or accelerate the run rate when needed. – In the Pakistan Super League, he has played for Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators, and he is set to join Multan Sultans for HBL PSL Season 9.

– He made his international debut for the Pakistan cricket team in November 2015.

Career 

Domestic career 

He was the top run-scorer for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy seasons, amassing 735 and 660 runs respectively. Notably, in the 2016–17 Regional One Day Cup final, he scored an unbeaten 131 runs and claimed 3 wickets, earning him the joint man of the match award. Additionally, he led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to victory in the 2021–22 National T20 Cup, receiving both the player of the final and player of the tournament honors.

International career 

He emerged as the leading run-scorer for Pakistan A during their two-day match against England in October 2015 and subsequently made his One Day International debut on November 13, 2015, during the same tour. His Test debut came against England on August 11, 2016. Initially selected for Pakistan’s squad in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament, he was later dropped due to poor form. Nonetheless, he marked his Twenty20 International debut for Pakistan against Sri Lanka in the 2016 Asia Cup on March 4, 2016. 

In September 2019, he found inclusion in the 16-man squad for Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka, being one of three players called back to the team. Recognizing his contributions, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awarded him a central contract in May 2020, ahead of the 2020–21 season. Additionally, he was named in a 29-man squad for Pakistan’s tour to England in June 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, on November 1, 2020, during the second match against Zimbabwe, Iftikhar achieved his first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.

Test Career 

In his Test career spanning from 2016 to 2022, Iftikhar Ahmed played four matches, featuring in six innings. He remained not out once and accumulated a total of 61 runs at an average of 12.20. His highest score in Test cricket stands at 27 runs. 

ODI Career

In his ODI career spanning from 2015 to 2023, Iftikhar Ahmed played 28 matches, featuring in 24 innings. He remained not out on 8 occasions, accumulating a total of 614 runs at an impressive average of 38.37. His highest score in ODI cricket stands at an unbeaten 109 runs. Throughout his ODI career, Iftikhar faced 576 deliveries, maintaining a commendable strike rate of 106.59. He registered one century and one half-century, showcasing his ability to convert starts into substantial innings. Remarkably, he remained dismissed without scoring a run on zero occasions. In terms of boundaries, he struck 52 fours and cleared the ropes for a six on 20 occasions, reflecting his aggressive batting style.

T20 International Career 

Throughout his T20I career spanning from 2016 to 2024, Iftikhar Ahmed has participated in 59 matches, featuring in 49 innings. He remained not out on 13 occasions, accumulating a total of 889 runs at an average of 24.69.
