Pakistan is slated to appear in a tri-series with Afghanistan in November, but that might not happen due to the military conflict between the two nations.

The Pakistani team was scheduled to play a tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Afghanistan from Nov 17-29, but with military conflict going on between PAK and AFG, the PCB is looking for an alternate team. “The PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has asked the International Cricket Council to start working on an alternate plan as he wants the Tri-Series to go ahead,” a source said.

Besides that, Sri Lanka is also slated to play a bilateral series in Pakistan from Nov 11-15. Not just that, the two boards are also in talks for a three-match T20I series early next year, from Jan 1-10. But that would mean a clash with the BBL, where some of the Pakistani players are scheduled to participate. Recently, the PCB had assured CA, that the Pakistanis involved, would get NOCs for the entire season.

Meanwhile, this would be the first time that the likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi would be taking part in the competition. “Obviously if the series with Sri Lanka is finalised, then either the selectors play without these players or the duration of their NOCs will have to be reconsidered by the PCB, meaning a disagreement with Cricket Australia,” the source said.

In fact, it seems the CA officials had gotten in touch with PCB officials over the same. They were conveyed that a lot of money had already been spent on the promotion of the Pakistani players in the league. This would also be the same time when the Emirates International League will be played, with three Pakistani players signed up with Desert Vipers.
