PCB seems to be in a spot of bother at the moment. The board has extended the submission deadline for two new PSL franchises, by two more days once again. “The last date for submitting initial bids is now extended by two days,” revealed a source to news agency PTI.
PCB seeks new bids for teams
Now, the new date for the initial bid has been changed to December 24; there has been no official response from the PSL as yet. Initially, the deadline was set at December 15, which was changed to 22nd, at a PSL roadshow in New York. All this, when the PSL auction is slated for January 6.
On the flipside, as per a separate report in GeoSuper, the reason for the extension in the deadline is due to the bank holidays; with the interested parties also wanting a change.
Deadline for bids extended
There are also reports that suggests, the reason for the PSL roadshow was to generate foreign capital as well, and not just rely on the domestic buyers. Meanwhile, the situation is quite grim, with the Multan Sultans ex-owner Ali Tareen leaving the PSL setup. Though it is not official, but the PCB could be managing the side themselves for the next season.
PSL had begun as a five team tournament in 2016, which was later increased to six teams in 2018, and by next year, wishes to be an 8-team event. Recently, the dates for the 2026 season were also announced, and the tournament will clash with the IPL 2026 as well. The next season of PSL will start on March 26 and will finish on May 6.
