Well, as if the bad form wasn’t enough. Rohit Sharma will miss the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) IPL 2025 clash. It has come as a huge surprise, as there were no reports of Rohit getting hit at the nets. However, Hardik Pandya confirmed that he got hit on his knees and is thus not fit for the LSG vs MI game in Lucknow.
What did Hardik Pandya say at the toss?
“We’ll bowl first. Looks like a fresh wicket. I’m not sure how it will play, and dew might come in later as well. They make things a bit different, but in the group, we have discussed that the day we play good cricket, we’ll get ahead in the contest. Adaptation and sticking to the right plans and being smart about it.
“A lot of runs are scored, and teams look to follow the others in the contest, but we believe we should play according to the situation, and we should be in a good position. Rohit got hit on the knee and missed out. Bumrah should be back soon.“
Rohit, who has MI’s backing despite his poor form, will sit out in Lucknow. He was used as an Impact Player option in the first three games anyway, with the MI legend only coming out to bat and not used in the field. Interestingly, Tilak Varma also finds a spot in the bench as MI opted to bowl first vs LSG. He’s among the impact sub options and is almost certain to come in the second innings.
Meanwhile, MI have handed a debut to Raj Bawa, who is a traditional pace-bowling all-rounder. MI paid Rs 30 lac for a talent that has previously played a couple of matches for the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
