WPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had an early exit from the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025) after a narrow 12-run loss to UP Warriorz (UP-W) on Saturday, March 8 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. UP Warriorz, batting first, posted an impressive 225/5 in 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant innings by Georgia Voll, who scored an unbeaten 99 off 56 balls.
In response, RCB came close to chasing the daunting target but fell short, getting all out for 213 in 19.3 overs. Richa Ghosh stood out with a remarkable 69 off 33 balls. This defeat placed RCB at the bottom of the points table, with only two wins from seven matches and a total of four points, resulting in their elimination from the tournament.
RCB’s chase got off to a rocky start with captain Smriti Mandhana’s early dismissal for 4 runs. Ellyse Perry (28 off 15) and Sabbhineni Meghana (27 off 12) provided some resistance, but their dismissals left RCB at 76/3 in 6.5 overs. Richa Ghosh then took charge and played aggressively despite lacking support from the other end, smashing six fours and five sixes.
Ghosh’s determined effort to lead RCB to victory was cut short when Deepti Sharma had her caught at deep square leg. Just when RCB’s chances seemed bleak, Sneh Rana played a stunning cameo of 26 off just 6 balls, targeting Deepti Sharma, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
