Mohsin Naqvi responds for the first time after India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final controversy

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup final: After being set a target of 147 runs, Surya's team went on to register a famous win in the last over.

It seems, an Indian victory in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, hasn’t gone down too well with the neighbours. Suryakumar Yadav’s side refused to take the trophy from ACC chief, who is also the PCB chief, Moshin Naqvi. And the latter made sure that the trophy wasn’t presented to the winning side, after the final.

Mohsin Naqvi Comes up with Distasteful Tweet

But post the excellent victory, PM Narendra Modi congratulated the team over their achievement. He wrote “Operation Sindoor on the games field. Outcome in the same — India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.”

But Naqvi, also the interior minister of Pakistan, could not tolerate the tweet, and responded in a rather poor fashion. He went on to write in bad taste, “If war was your measure of pride, history already records your humiliating defeats at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can rewrite that truth.”

Devajit Saikia Says..

On the other hand, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia lashed out at Naqvi, for removing the trophy from the dais. He said, “We have decided not to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the senior leaders of Pakistan. That was a conscious decision.

“This does not give him the right to take the trophy and the medals with him. It is extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike. We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible,” Saikia added.
