Mohammed Siraj has officially joined the Gujarat Titans (GT). The right-arm fast bowler was acquired by the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 champions for Rs 12.25 crore at the auction in Jeddah last year after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) released him.
Mohammed Siraj joins Gujarat Titans
Despite being the third-highest wicket-taker for RCB, the franchise decided that they won’t retain the pacer. The decision was rather surprising. Yes, Siraj was expensive but was also a proven breakthrough provider. But the RCB decided they needed to start afresh as they had released their captain, Faf du Plessis, as well.
At the auction, Siraj was in high demand. He got a whopping Rs 12.25 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. Gujarat Titans needed to fill the hole Mohammed Shami had left, so they decided his Indian teammate would take his place aptly.
Siraj will be in action for the Gujarat Titans for the first time on March 23. As the Shubman Gill-led team will take on the Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The pacer would have Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Gerald Coetzee, Karim Janat, and Kulwant Khejroliya support, but he would be the leader of the pace pack.
