India cricket team pacer Mohammed Siraj has been named the ICC Player of the Month for August 2025. The fast-bowler has earned the award for his heroics in the IND vs ENG Test series, including a match-winning spell in the 2nd innings of the 5th Test at The Oval. In the absence of Bumrah, Siraj effectively spearheaded India’s pace attack and proved his naysayers wrong by establishing that he was India’s most valued all-format player.
Siraj wins ICC award
In the only Test that he was a part of in August, the IND vs ENG 5th Test, Siraj picked up 9 wickets in two innings, averaging 21.11. He played an instrumental role in ensuring that Shubman Gill and co. secured a win in the final Test of the series, bowling an outstanding spell on the final day of The Oval Test. Thanks to Siraj’s efforts, India not only won the game but also managed to draw the series 2-2.
“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of. I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in the decisive moments. Bowling against a top batting lineup in their home conditions was challenging, but it also brought out the best in me,” Siraj said.
Mohammed Siraj was honoured with a Player of the Match award for his heroics in the 5th Test where he also bagged a five-wicket haul. The pacer beat the likes of New Zealand’s Matt Henry and West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales for the monthly award. A patriotic Siraj dedicated his award to his teammates and the support staff and vowed to keep doing well for the country.
