Five-time champions Mumbai Indians are the most valuable Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, as per a report. The team, owned by Reliance Industries, has always been among the top-three brands in the cash-rich league since its inception. Mi’s ascension as the top valuable franchise in IPL comes even as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has seen a significant drop in the IPL brand value before the 2026 edition.
MI most valuable IPL franchise
As per Brand Finance Annual Report, MI tops the chart of most valuable franchises followed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The team owned by Mukesh Ambani are valued at $108 million. The least valuable team are one-time champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) at $53 million.
| Team | Brand Value (in $) |
| Mumbai Indians (MI) | $108 million |
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) | $105 million |
| Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | $93 million |
| Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | $74 million |
| Gujarat Titans (GT) | $70 million |
| Punjab Kings (PBKS) | $66 million |
| Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) | $59 million |

The report claims that the geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan in May were a big reason behind the drop in the brand value of IPL and the teams as well. RCB, who were previously the most valued team in the league, value has dropped by 10% to USD 105 million (INR 94.35 crore approximately). brand value dropped by 24% to USD 93 million (INR 83.57 crore approximately). Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders were hit even harder. They went down by 35%, 34% and 33%, respectively. Gujarat Titans were the only team that saw a rise in brand value, and that too by just a meagre 2%.
