Former Pakistan pacer Mohammed Amir is eyeing to make an entry into the Indian Premier League in 2026. Owing to geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, the cricketers from the latter country are barred from participating in the IPL. However, Amir seems to found a route by which he could potentially be a part of the cash-rich league in the future.
Amir in IPL soon?
Speaking on the Haarna Mana Hai show, Amir revealed that an opportunity was in the making by next year and he could potentially be a part of IPL 2026. The former Pakistan’s pacer is a UK citizen and it is via her that he is trying to secure a UK passport. If he succeeds, then he becomes a UK national, which means he will be eligible to play in the IPL.
“Next year tak meri opportunity ban rahi agar hua to kyu nahi (By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL and if given the chance then why not). I will play in the IPL,” Amir said.

Amir revealed that he would love to play for RCB if he participates in the IPL. He lavished praise on Virat Kohli, noting that the former admires talent. The ex-Pakistan pacer revealed that Kohli had gifted him a bat which he had used to play some good knocks. Ahmed Shehzad, who was a fellow panelist on the show, claimed that Amir’s entry could change RCB’s fortunes. It is pertinent to point out that Bengaluru haven’t won a single IPL title so far.
“Pakistani cricketers were banned in the IPL, but our former cricketers were doing commentary and were also coach of the franchise,” he added.
