No one came close to the India cricket team in the Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue never lost more than 4 wickets while chasing and the only time they had to defend a target, they won by 44 runs. No team really challenged them. If Rohit Sharma failed, you had Shubman Gill. In case they couldn’t do much, you had Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli.
In case the entire top order collapsed, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja could score the runs. In the bowling department, you had four frontline spinners. No other team even had two spinners of there caliber. So it wasn’t a shock that Team India lifted the Champions Trophy 2025 trophy.
Wasim Akram impressed with Team India’s depth
Former Pakistan cricketers Wasim Akram has criticised those taking aim at Team India for playing all of their matches in Dubai. Many claimed that Rohit Sharma and co. had an advantage as they played all of their matches in one venue. Had they played in Pakistan, things might have been different.
“This Indian team would have won it anywhere in the world. Yes, there were a lot of talks, but once decided that India would play all of their matches in Dubai and had they played in Pakistan, they would have won there as well. They won the 2024 T20 World Cup without losing a game, they went on to win the Champions Trophy without losing even one game which shows the depth in their cricket, that shows the leadership,” Akram said on the Dressing Room.
“If you remember they lost to New Zealand 3-0 in Test series at home, lost the Border-Gavaskar trophy and lost the series in Sri Lanka so they were under pressure to remove the captain, the coach but sanity prevailed. BCCI backed them, said this is our captain, this is our coach and now they are the champions of the champion,” Akram said.
