KSCA Dr K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament 2025: Key Players, Squads, Schedule - All You Need to Know

Catch all the information regarding the KSCA All India Invitational Tournament, also known as the KSCA Dr K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament.

The prestigious KSCA Dr K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament 2025 is all set to kick off, marking the much-awaited start of the red-ball cricket season in Karnataka. Organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), this invitational tournament has grown into one of India’s toughest and most competitive domestic cricket events, attracting top sides and star players from across the country. It is similar to what the Buchi Babu Tournament is, which is conducted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).

Tournament Overview and Format

Beginning on September 4, 2025, across cricketing hubs Bengaluru and Mysuru, the Dr K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament follows a traditional four-day format that closely resembles the Ranji Trophy conditions. This structure provides players with a vital platform to fine-tune their skills for national selection, gain match practice, or make a comeback from injuries.

Typically, KSCA fields four teams—President’s XI, Secretary’s XI, KSCA XI, and Colts XI. This year, the tournament also includes strong domestic teams from other states such as Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Baroda, adding more competitiveness to the contest.

Star players and emerging talents to watch

The 2025 edition promises exciting matchups featuring prominent names. One of the standout participants is fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who returns fresh off a successful Test series in England, where he claimed 14 wickets in three matches. Krishna will use this tournament as vital preparation for India’s upcoming tour of the West Indies.

Another key player is R. Smaran, Karnataka’s top scorer last Ranji Trophy season with 516 runs at an impressive average of 64.50. Now captaining the KSCA XI, Smaran will be supported by experienced bowlers like Shreyas Gopal and Vidwath Kaverappa, along with KL Shrijith. Also, Mumbai have released their squad as well, featuring the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Musheer Khan.

Fans will also get a glimpse of new talent in Samit Dravid, son of Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid, who is making one of his first appearances in a senior-level tournament representing the Secretary’s XI.
