Delhi Capitals star KL Rahul is expected to miss a couple of games in IPL 2025 due to personal reasons. The Karnataka keeper-batter moved from LSG to DC after being bagged by the latter for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction in November 2024. The next edition of the cash-rich league will get underway from March 22.
Why will Rahul miss couple of IPL 2025 matches?
As per News18, Rahul is expecting the birth of his first child with wife Athiya Shetty. The report states that the DC star could miss a game or two depending on his wife’s due date. Earlier, Rahul’s father-in-law Suneil Shetty had revealed that the couple were expecting to welcome their first-born in April.

Athiya and KL Rahul shared the news of their pregnancy last year via an Instagram post that read, “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025.” For the unversed, Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul tied the knot in 2023 at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse. The wedding was an intimate affair with only close friends and family in attendance.
Recently, the actress’ father, actor Suniel Shetty, expressed his excitement as he prepares to become a grandfather. In a conversation with Chanda Kochhar on her podcast, he shared his delight about the upcoming addition to the family.
“Right now, it’s probably all about the grandchild. There’s no other conversation, and we don’t want any other conversation. We’re just eagerly looking forward to meeting the baby in April,” he said.
Meanwhile, DC are yet to announce their new captain ahead of IPL 2025. While Rahul is very much in the race, reports have earlier claimed that the reins could be handed over to Axar Patel.
