In what comes as a good news for Australia cricket team, Josh Hazlewood has returned to training and is expected to be available later on in the Ashes series. The pacer was left out of the AUS vs ENG 1st Test due to a hamstring injury that he suffered before the start of the series. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins is gearing up for his return as well and was seen practicing with the pink-ball ahead of the 2nd Ashes Test which will be a day-night affair.

Hazlewood to return in Ashes 3rd Test?

As per ESPNCricinfo, Hazlewood was seen bowling with the red-ball in the nets at Cricket Central in Sydney. While it is unlikely that he will be available for the AUS vs ENG 2nd Test in Brisbane, it is expected that he will return to action in the 3rd Test in Adelaide. Australia head coach Andrew McDonald on Monday said that the team expects Hazlewood to be available at a later stage of the ongoing Ashes.

I know that he’ll be available at some point during the series. We’ve got a little bit of that early rehab to go through to formulate where he may plug into the series, but we expect him to take some part in the series,” McDonald said.

Cummins all set for comeback

Meanwhile, Cummins was spotted training with the pink-ball, possibly pushing for his return in the AUS vs ENG 2nd Test. Coach McDonald revealed that the Australian captain was nearing the completion of his rehabilitation.

“It looked like a player that was nearing the completion of his rehabilitation. The intensity was there, the ball speed was there. There’s a lot of positives, but now it’s just really building that resilience within the soft tissue and making sure that we’re not putting him in harm’s way in terms of accelerating it too much,” McDonald added.
