Ramakrishna Ghosh has sounded a timely warning to five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of IPL 2026 with an epic performance with the ball in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26. The Maharashtra all-rounder, who was retained by Ruturaj Gaikwad and co, is yet to make his IPL debut as he warmed the bench throughout the 2025 season. However, Ghosh has put his IPL franchise on notice with his seven-wicket haul in VHT, reminding them that he could very well find his place in the playing Xi.
Will Ghosh break into CSK’s XI for IPL 2026?
Ghosh wreaked havoc on Himachal Pradesh in he Vijay Hazare Trophy game on Monday, finishing with figures of 7/42 in 9.2 overs. He was instrumental in dismantling HP’s op-order, and struck at regular intervals to never let the side get the scoreboard ticking. The right-arm medium fast bowler’s victims include Innesh Mahajan, A Kalsi, E Sen, Pukhraj Mann, N Sharma, Vaibhav Arora, and Rohit Kumar.
The Maharashtra all-rounder made his List A and T20 debut in 2023 and 2022 respectively and has grown leaps and bounds over the years. He now has 17 wickets from 7 List A games while he has less superior numbers in T20s, with just 2 wickets from 9 games. However, Ghosh has proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in terms of batting, having scored 112 runs from 6 List A matches, including a 73-run knock against Punjab in his first game of VHT 2025/26.
CSK are on the look out for a replacement for veteran Jadeja who has been traded to RR ahead of IPL 2026. While Prashant Veer, the joint-most expensive uncapped Indian player at Rs 14.20 crore is the frontrunner, Ghosh has thrown his hat into the ring. Surely, CSK would take notice of his prowess in the white-ball formats and give him a chance in IPL 2026.
