Usually when the Indian team tours England for a white ball series, they make sure to stop in Ireland for a shortish series too. And as per Cricinfo, Cricket Ireland is hoping for the same once again, next summer. In 2026 July, India is slated to play five T20Is and three ODIs, and CI and the BCCI are already in talks for the same.
India vs Ireland in 2026
The last time India played a series in Ireland was in 2023. Meanwhile, Ireland has had scanty cricket at home in some time now. “I opened the meeting by saying, as far as I’m concerned, the quantum of cricket that we’re playing in ’25 isn’t good enough to prepare you guys to play international cricket and to be competitive at ICC tournaments,” MacNeice, the CI head said. “I’m not hiding from that.
“We mapped out our views and thoughts on what the schedule for ’26 and ’27 looks like, and I wanted to get their input not just on the international schedule, but also the domestic schedule… It was a really positive session yesterday. There’s more work to be done, honestly, but it was a good session.”
Discussions On Between Cricket Ireland and BCCI
As far as the ICC’s Future Tours Programme is concerned, Ireland will host New Zealand, Bangladesh and Afghanistan in 2026. On the other hand, Team India too has a packed schedule. At the start of 2026, New Zealand come to India and then India go to England.
If the IND vs IRE series does get a nod, it remains to be seen, how many matches do the two teams play. Last time around it was a series of three T20Is.
