IPL rumours: Ayush Mhatre's U-19 teammate gives trials for CSK, was a hit on England tour

RS Ambrish could be the next big thing in the IPL, when it comes to the fast-bowling all-rounders.

CSK had a rather ordinary IPL 2025 season, where they finished bottom of the points table, winning only four matches out of 14. Batting was poor, and so was bowling, and the team clearly suffered on both the accounts. But then, one of the bright lights for them was, roping in India’s U19 skipper Ayush Mhatre, who in 7 games scored 240 runs for them.

RS Ambrish Auditions for CSK

With the news of IPL trade surrounding CSK.. and with talks of R Ashwin leaving, and potentially Sanju Samson coming in, it seems that the team might be looking to make a few more rookie additions. As per rumours on social media, it seems the team is keen on investing in a young pace bowling all-rounder — RS Ambrish. And for the same called him for trials in Chennai.

The 18-year-old was part of the IND vs ENG U19 squad recently, and was impressive in all the matches he played. In the five Youth ODIs, he scored 110 runs including a fifty, and also bagged eight wickets. In the two Tests, he scored 138 runs including two fifties, and picked up six wickets too.

Esakkimuthu Tried Out As Well

While the details about the trials cannot be confirmed as yet, but if RS Ambrish does gets bagged in the IPL 2026 auction, he could be a great addition to the team. Their trusted Shivam Dube doesn’t bowl much anymore, and that is where Ambrish could fit in.

Recently, MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad were in Chennai too, to discuss the future course of action for the team, and perhaps the case of Ambrish was discussed too. Apart from that, there were reports suggesting that TNPL bowler Esakkimuthu A was also called for the trials.
